To add vegetables in this omelette recipe is optional. Besan or gram flour is high in protein and has less calories than wheat flour. it is very filling and can be served with choice of tomato ketchup or any other sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Gram flour (besan)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1-2 Green chillies finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1 Onion finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Carom seeds (ajwain)
  • Oil for cooking
  • Tomato ketchup to serve

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together gram flour, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, green chillies, cumin powder, onion and salt with sufficient water to make a fine batter.
  2. Add carom seeds and whisk well.
  3. Heat some oil in a non-stick pan.
  4. Pour a ladleful of batter on it, spread into a disc and cook, turning sides, till well browned on both sides.
  5. Make more omelettes similarly.
  6. Serve with tomato ketchup or tea.
