Chocolate Walnut Brownies

Chocolate Walnut Brownies are a classic and beloved dessert that combines rich, fudgy chocolate with crunchy walnuts. These decadent treats are perfect for chocolate lovers and are often enjoyed as a dessert or as a sweet indulgence any time of the day.

About the Recipe:

The key to a delicious Chocolate Walnut Brownie is achieving the perfect balance between a moist, chewy interior and a slightly crispy crust. The combination of cocoa powder, butter, and sugar creates a dense and chocolatey base, while the addition of chopped walnuts adds a delightful crunch and nutty flavour.

The texture of these brownies is dense and fudgy, with a slight chewiness. The centre should be moist and gooey, while the edges can have a slightly firmer texture. The chopped walnuts contribute a pleasant crunch to each bite.

The intense chocolate flavour in these brownies comes from the combination of unsweetened cocoa powder and a generous amount of butter. The cocoa powder adds depth and richness, while the butter enhances the overall taste and texture.

Chopped walnuts are a classic addition to chocolate brownies. They provide a contrast in texture and add a nutty flavour that complements the chocolate. You can use toasted walnuts for a more pronounced flavour, or leave them untoasted for a milder taste.

Serving Suggestions:

These Chocolate Walnut Brownies are delicious on their own, but you can also serve them with a dollop of whipped cream, a drizzle of chocolate sauce, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

They pair well with a hot cup of coffee or a glass of cold milk.

Storage Suggestions:

To keep your brownies fresh, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days. If you want to extend their shelf life, you can refrigerate them for up to a week.

For longer-term storage, wrap the brownies tightly in plastic wrap and place them in a freezer bag. They can be frozen for up to 2-3 months.

Variations:

Feel free to customise your brownies with these variations:

Add chocolate chips or chunks to the batter for extra chocolatey goodness.

Substitute walnuts with pecans or almonds for a different nutty flavour.

For a twist, stir in some dried fruit like cherries or cranberries to the batter.

You can also swirl some peanut butter or caramel sauce into the batter before baking for a delicious twist.

Chocolate Walnut Brownies are a versatile dessert that can be customised to your taste. You can experiment with different variations, such as adding chocolate chips, swapping walnuts for other nuts, or incorporating additional mix-ins like dried fruits or marshmallows.

Overall, Chocolate Walnut Brownies are a delightful treat that offers a perfect combination of rich chocolate and crunchy walnuts. Whether you enjoy them warm out of the oven or at room temperature, they are sure to satisfy your chocolate cravings and bring joy to your taste buds.

Enjoy your homemade Chocolate Walnut Brownies!

Description

Chocolate Walnut Brownies are a classic and beloved dessert that combines rich, fudgy chocolate with crunchy walnuts. These decadent treats are perfect for chocolate lovers and are often enjoyed as a dessert or as a sweet indulgence any time of the day. Here’s a quick and easy recipe for Chocolate Walnut Brownies:

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter
  • 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (60g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (120g) chopped walnuts

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter in the microwave until fully melted. Alternatively, you can melt it on the stovetop over low heat.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Stir until well combined.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Fold in the chopped walnuts, reserving a handful for topping if desired.
  • Pour the batter into the greased baking dish and spread it evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Avoid overbaking to maintain a fudgy texture.
  • Remove from the oven and allow the brownies to cool completely in the baking dish.
  • Once cooled, cut the brownies into squares and serve.
  • You can dust them with powdered sugar.
  • Serve with a scoop of ice cream, if desired.

Notes

  • Make sure not to overmix the batter to avoid a dense texture. Mix until just combined.
  • You can use a toothpick or a skewer to check for doneness. The brownies should have a few moist crumbs sticking to the toothpick when done.
  • For an extra touch, sprinkle some chopped walnuts on top of the batter before baking.
