Lassi/Punjabi Lassi is one of the popular Indian chilled beverages all across India. Mostly Punjab and North Indian states are famous for making this drink. Lassi can be prepared in two ways – Salty and Sweet. Generally, traditional Punjabi lassi is salty, but sweet and savory lassi is equally preferred. In India, you can find various street vendors selling Lassi in kulhad or earthen pots or mitti ka glass, because, earlier curd was kept in clay pots or matkas which would make it cold.

By making, Mango Lassi, Badam Lassi, Chocolate Lassi, Strawberry Lassi, Rose Lassi, Masala Lassi, and with numerous variations, you can give a delicious twist to the traditional sweet Lassi.

About this Recipe
Traditionally, lassi is made by using a wooden churner (called mathni) but nowadays to make things easier, we can simply whisk the curd either in a mixer grinder or the hand blender is used.
In Punjab, Sweet Lassi, also known as Meethi lassi is a yogurt-based drink – thick, creamy heavier, more like a milkshake consistency. It is completely different from the chaas recipe because it has wonderful flavors of cardamom, saffron, and dry fruits. This taste is just like the ones you get from Punjabi Dhaba, so thick, rich, yummy, and delightful!
