Frozen banana dessert is a sweet treat made from frozen bananas. It’s a simple and healthy alternative to traditional ice cream and offers a creamy and refreshing taste. Here’s an overview of how to make it and some serving suggestions:

About this Recipe

Frozen banana dessert, also known as “nice cream,” is a dairy-free and healthier alternative to traditional ice cream. It is made by blending frozen bananas until they reach a creamy and smooth consistency, resembling soft-serve ice cream. Here’s a more detailed description of this delightful dessert.

Frozen banana dessert is a delightful and healthy option for satisfying your sweet tooth. It’s a versatile dessert that can be enjoyed on its own or customised with various flavours and toppings to suit your preferences.

Health Benefits:

One of the significant advantages of frozen banana dessert is its healthiness compared to traditional ice cream. It is dairy-free, vegan-friendly, and contains no added sugars or artificial ingredients.

Bananas are a great source of vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber, making this dessert a nutritious choice.

Serving and Toppings Suggestions:

  • Frozen banana dessert can be served immediately after blending, as it has a soft-serve consistency. You can transfer the mixture into bowls or cups and enjoy it as a standalone dessert.
  • Alternatively, you can freeze the blended banana mixture for another hour or two to achieve a firmer texture that resembles traditional ice cream. This will allow you to scoop it into ice cream cones or serve it alongside other desserts.
  • You can elevate the frozen banana dessert by adding various toppings and garnishes. Some popular options include chopped nuts (such as almonds, walnuts, or pecans), shredded coconut, chocolate chips, fresh fruit slices, granola or a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.

Tips:

  • The key to achieving a naturally sweet and flavourful frozen banana dessert is to use ripe bananas. Ripe bananas have a softer texture and a higher sugar content, which enhances the taste of the dessert.
  • While the basic frozen banana dessert is delicious on its own, feel free to experiment with different flavours. You can add a splash of vanilla extract, a sprinkle of cinnamon, or a drizzle of honey or maple syrup to customise the taste.
  • When blending the frozen banana slices, be mindful not to over-blend, as it can lead to a runny consistency. Aim for a smooth and creamy texture without over processing.
  • If you prefer a softer, creamy consistency, enjoy the frozen banana dessert right after blending. If you prefer a firmer texture, freeze the mixture for an additional hour or two before serving.
  • If you decide to incorporate additional fruits into the frozen banana dessert, ensure they are also frozen. Adding too much additional fruit can affect the texture and result in a less creamy dessert.

Variations

Here are some popular variations given below.

  • Add a couple of tablespoons of cocoa powder or melted dark chocolate to the blender along with the frozen bananas. This creates a rich and chocolatey frozen banana dessert.
  • Incorporate a handful of your favourite frozen berries, such as strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries, into the blender with the frozen bananas. This adds a fruity twist and a vibrant colour to the dessert.
  • Blend in a spoonful of your preferred nut butter, such as peanut butter, almond butter, or cashew butter, for added richness and flavour.
  • Customise the taste by adding a splash of vanilla extract, a sprinkle of cinnamon, or other spices that complement your desired flavour profile.

Thus, frozen banana dessert offers a guilt-free and delicious way to enjoy a frozen treat. It’s versatile, customizable, and allows you to indulge your cravings while incorporating wholesome ingredients. Whether enjoyed plain or with various flavour combinations, frozen banana dessert is a refreshing and satisfying dessert option.

Do try this dessert for your loved ones!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1½ cups whipped cream
  • 1½ cups chocolate ice cream
  • 2 tablespoons castor sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine whipped cream and chocolate ice cream.
  • Add castor sugar, vanilla essence and gently mix everything with a spatula.
  • Now peel and cut the banana into thin diagonal slices.
  • In a rectangular freezer proof plastic container, line the bottom with a layer of the banana slices.
  • Then spread a layer of the cream mixture evenly over it.
  • Repeat the same layers of banana slices and cream mixture.
