Description

Simple Watermelon Lemonade – a cool and refreshing alcohol-free drink in summers. Here, I am sharing with you a simple and easy lemonade drink to cool you down this summer that refreshes your mind and body in just a few minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 watermelon cubed in chunks
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (more or less to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon fresh strained lime juice

For serving

  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  • To prepare watermelon lemonade, cut the watermelon into small cubes.
  • Add it to the blender and blend it to make a smooth puree.
  • Next, using a fine strainer, strain all the juice into a bowl.
  • Heat a pan, add water and sugar. Keep mixing until the sugar dissolves completely.
  • Put some lime juice in a mug or serving glass. Pour over some sugar syrup then add strained watermelon juice and little water.
  • Give a good mix.
  • Pour over some ice cubes and mint leaves.
  • The watermelon lemonade is ready to serve.

Notes

  • This may seem tough when choosing a ripe and sweet watermelon but don’t worry. Ripe and sweet watermelon is heavy for their size, so juicy inside, and has a creamy and yellow spot. Check it by tapping your thumb. Its surface must be firm, and it must have a deep hollow sound.
  • If the watermelon is sweet enough, you can skip the sugar. You can also add a healthier sweetener like honey, palm sugar, or maple syrup. Adding sugar is optional.
  • This watermelon lemonade is much foamier if you don’t sieve it. But make sure, remove the seeds when adding to the blender jar. I like a smoother version with less foam. Straining the watermelon juice is optional.
  • Instead of water, you can also use sparkling water like soda in this recipe.
  • Additionally, this summer drink will be much tastier, if you blend the mints leave along with watermelon, instead of using mints just for garnishing.
  • This drink can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days, or freeze in form of ice cubes.
  • Prep Time: 10 mins
  • Cook Time: 5 mins
