Description

A single serving chocolate mug cake is an instantly made dessert in a microwave that is super chocolatey, moist and tastes and texture make the cake more delightful.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons refined flour (maida)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder unsweetened
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • Tiny pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil (or melted butter)
  • 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon chocolate chips or your favorite flavor baking chips (optional)

Instructions

  • Grease the bottom of a microwave-safe mug or coffee cup generously with cooking spray.
  • Add all the dry ingredients flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt and mix together well.
  • Further add the wet ingredients milk, canola oil, and vanilla extract and mix until fully incorporated or no lumps remain, being sure to scrape the bottom of the mug. If using chocolate chips, fold them through in the batter or sprinkle them on top.
  • Cook in microwave for 70-90 seconds until the center of the cake is just set, but still barely shiny on top.  Allow to cool slightly in microwave for 1 minute before consuming and enjoy!

Notes

  • To make this mug cake, do not use plastic mug. Always use ceramic mug or microwave-safe mug.
  • You can top with your favorite toppings to make the cake more delightful.
  • All microwaves are different so it’s difficult to tell a precise cook time.  Start with 70 seconds, wait 1 minute while it cools, then look to see if it is set.  Add an additional 15-25 seconds if needed. Allow it to rest for 1 minute in a microwave.
  • It is best to served after you make it, but you can covered tightly and stored at room temperature for 1-2 days.
