A simple and easy Milk burfi is one of the easiest milk sweets that need only 2 main ingredients – milk and sugar. A perfect sweet just melt in the mouth and is ready in minutes. Serve this delight to your friends and family on special festivals like Rakhi, Diwali, Holi, or any special occasions like birthdays and weddings.

As you know, that Raksha Bandhan is around the corner. I tried to make this burfi so many times into my kitchen that you guys won’t believe that all the time it resulted super delicious.

Last year, due to some reason, I was not able to buy sweets for the Rakhi festival, so I made this milk burfi at my home with milk and sugar. As a result, its taste and texture were so delicious. Since that time, I love to make this sweet whenever I have had some leftover milk. You can make milk burfi very easily. You don’t require sugar syrup, condensed milk, and milk powder for this recipe.

What is Milk Burfi

This milk burfi is also known as ‘mawa/khoya burfi’ in some parts of India. It is an easy and basic plain burfi recipe -soft, dense milk-based fudge made with a handful of ingredients. These are usually made with khoya or mawa that is dry evaporated milk.

There are too many variations of milk-based sweets. Some people use milk powder; some use condensed milk etc., to make this sweet.  These are slightly different in texture. Like, mawa burfi has a slightly granular texture whereas the condensed milk burfi has a smooth texture. I usually made burfis using full-fat milk, sugar, and these ready together so quickly.

Try this perfect market-style Milk burfi at your home in minutes.

Description

Milk Burfi is one of the best gluten-free milk sweets that are easy to make, melt in the mouth, and super delicious. It is made using only 2 main ingredients – milk and sugar and takes around 40 minutes. This sweet fudge mostly prepared during festivals like Rakhi, Diwali, Holi, or any special occasions like birthdays and weddings. Here’s how to make milk burfi:

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 L (1500 ml) full-fat milk
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • For garnishing – edible silver vark

Equipment’s

  • Heavy-based pan or kadhai
  • Tray or tin

Instructions

To make milk burfi

  • Heat a heavy-based pan or kadhai.
  • Pour little water and spread it on all sides of the pan.
  • Next, add full-fat milk and bring it to boil on high flame.
  • Once the milk starts bubbling, turn the flame to low.
  • Continue stirring and cook until the milk turns to one-third of its quantity.
  • Once the milk thickens and starts separating from the pan.
  • Add sugar and mix everything well.
  • Continuously keep stirring. Cook till the mixture forms like a ball of dough and milk starts leaving the sides of the pan, and then check the mixture.
  • Take a small portion and make a small ball and if it doesn’t stick on your hands, it means the consistency is perfect. It’s time for setting it.
  • Turn off the flame and stir continuously because the pan is still hot.
  • Now, grease a tray or tin with ghee.
  • Transfer this mixture to a greased plate or pan.
  • Spread evenly with the back of a spoon or spatula.
  • Let it set for about 15-20 minutes. Once it sets, then garnish with silver vark.
  • Cut them into the desired shape.
  • Milk Burfi is now ready.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

  • Make sure, use whole full cream milk for good results.
  • Cook the mixture until it starts separating from the pan, else it will be difficult to set.
  • Additionally, you can increase the amount of sugar to enhance the sweetness.
  • If desired, you can use any nuts of your choice for garnishing.
  • You can also store them in an airtight box. These burfi pieces stay good for about 4 to 5 days in the refrigerator.
