Hibiscus tea is a herbal tea made from the dried petals of the hibiscus plant (Hibiscus sabdariffa). It has a vibrant red color and a tart, refreshing flavor. This tea is known for its numerous health benefits and is enjoyed both for its taste and medicinal properties. Here’s more information about the recipe, health benefits, ingredients, serving, and some tips:

Health Benefits:

Hibiscus tea offers several potential health benefits, including:

Hibiscus tea is packed with antioxidants that help fight free radicals in the body, reducing oxidative stress and promoting overall health.

Studies suggest that hibiscus tea may help lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels, reducing the risk of heart disease.

Hibiscus tea has been linked to weight loss and the prevention of obesity. It can help lower body mass index (BMI) and reduce abdominal fat.

The tea has mild diuretic properties and can aid digestion by relieving constipation, improving bowel movements, and reducing stomach acidity.

May help manage blood sugar levels: Hibiscus tea has shown potential in reducing blood sugar levels, making it beneficial for individuals with diabetes or at risk of developing diabetes.

Serving and Tips:

Hibiscus tea can be served both hot and cold, depending on personal preference. It’s often enjoyed as a refreshing iced tea during hot weather.

If you prefer a sweeter taste, add honey, sugar, or your preferred sweetener while the tea is still warm.

Experiment with different flavours by adding herbs like mint or spices like cinnamon for a unique twist.

To make a larger batch of tea, simply adjust the quantities of ingredients accordingly.

When serving the tea cold, consider garnishing with fresh fruit slices or mint leaves to enhance the presentation and taste.

Remember to consult with a healthcare professional if you have any specific health concerns or are taking medications that may interact with hibiscus tea.

Enjoy the vibrant and refreshing hibiscus tea while benefiting from its potential health properties!

Description

Hibiscus Tea is a popular Indian beverage also known as Roselle, (Hibiscus sabdariffa), rosella, Jamaican sorrel, or java jute. This aromatic tea is a super healthy beverage, prepared with Hibiscus Flowers. It has amazing health benefits such as boosting your immune system, fighting off inflammation, warding off heart disease, and more. Here is how to make Hibiscus Tea Recipe at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 large dry hibiscus petals (गुड़हल पंखुड़ियां)
  • A few mint leaves
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, add water and let it boil on medium heat.
  • Once the water starts boiling, turn off the heat.
  • Then add dried hibiscus petals, and mint leaves.
  • Cover the pot and let them steep in water for 5 minutes or more.
  • Now strain the tea using a tea strainer. Add lime juice, honey or sugar and mix well.
  • Pour hot hibiscus tea in a glass, and serve.

Notes

  • If you need, you may also add basil, lemon grass, and lemon zest to this tea, which taste really nice with hibiscus
  • As per the sweetness, feel free to add more honey or even replace it with sugar or jaggery, if you like.
  • Make sure the dried flower petals are not steep in water for too long as a result, tea will become bitter in tasting.
  • In case of pregnancy or on any hormonal imbalance medication or if your blood pressure is low, I would suggest not drink hibiscus tea.
