What Is Chai Masala?

Tea masala is a spice made from whole spices such as dry ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, cardamom, black pepper, etc added to make milk tea more flavourful.. These ingredients give the normal milk tea a nice aroma and delicious taste. Here is the simplest method of making homemade tea masala. This Best Homemade Chai Masala Recipe or Chai Masala is a blend of various spices that gives Masala Tea a unique taste. You can store it in an airtight container.

Ingredients for Chai Masala powder

A lot of spices are used to make tea masala. The best thing is that you can skip one or two ingredients as per the availability and your choice. Although the mentioned content ratio works best for me. All these ingredients have their specific benefits, such as –

Cinnamon – It reduces the risk of heart disease and lowers blood sugar levels. It is loaded with anti oxidants and anti inflammatory properties.

Nutmeg Powder – It has anti bacterial and anti inflammatory properties.

Black Peppercorns – These are rich in vitamins and minerals. It enhances nutrients absorption.

Cloves – Rich in anti oxidants and protects against cancer. It regulates blood sugar level and promote bone health.

Green Cardamom – These helps in digestion and may lower blood pressure. Cardamom have anti inflammatory effect and treat bad breadth.

Fennel Seeds – It aids in digestion and prevents bloating.

Dry Ginger Powder – It gives relief from cold and flu. It is anti inflammatory and aids in cardiovascular health.

Rose Petals – These are  rich source of vit A, D and C. It hydrates and tightens the skin and helps cure acne.

How to use Chai masala powder

To use Chai Masala, add 1/4 tsp of it per cup of masala tea. You can also add ginger and tulsi leaves along with this masala to make masala tea.

Cooking time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Dry Ginger Powder
  • 1/4 cup Black Peppercorns
  • 1/4 cup Cinnamon Stick
  • 1/4 cup Green Cardamom
  • 1 Nutmeg Crushed
  • 1/4 cup Cloves
  • 2 tbsp Fennel Seeds / saunf
  • 2 tbsp Rose Petals Dried (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a blender jar and blend it to make a fine powder.
  2. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 months.
  3. Use ½ tsp of this powder for 2 cups of Indian masala chai.
