Lassi is everyone’s favorite, the most refreshing and creamy Indian drink for summers.

A yogurt based drink with sweet or savory flavor. Traditionally, lassi is prepared with yogurt, water, few spices and herbs is known as ‘namkeen lassi’ or buttermilk (chaas) and sometimes made using various fruits and other flavors is known as ‘meethi lassi’.

For all the lassi lovers, here I am sharing the most popular drink served in many Indian households as well as at your favorite restaurants is Mango lassi, made with just few ingredients – some fresh sweet mangoes and creamy full-fat yogurt, a little ice, sugar and a touch of cardamom to make this refreshing delight. Additionally, to give a rich and creamy taste, added a little bit of whipped cream and crushed dry fruits on top. It goes very well with spicy Indian food or with your favorite appetizers or snack.

Mango is called the king of fruits; thus mango is juicy, tasty, delicious and super sweet. I use mangoes in both savory and sweet dishes. Since mangoes are in the season, so I am sharing with you Mango lassi recipe. It’s almost everyone’s favorite and you can prepare it in a couple of minutes. It tastes great when serve chilled!

I think, there is no better way to make this healthy and delicious summer drink with the sweetness of ripe mangoes and the tangy taste of yogurt.

Mango lassi is a cool delectable yogurt based drink with its amazing and indulgent flavors that you can drink any time.

Enjoy this perfect Indian summer drink when fresh ripe mangoes are still in the season.

Description

Mango lassi is a popular refreshing and creamy Indian drink for summers made with just few ingredients, all you need is some fresh sweet mangoes and creamy full-fat yogurt, a little ice, sugar and a touch of cardamom. Garnish with whipped cream and some chopped nuts like (almonds and pistachios). Learn how to make lassi at home in no time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh ripe mango peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup plain yogurt chilled
  • 4 tablespoon powdered sugar or add as required
  • ¼ teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 5–6 ice cubes
  • Whipped cream lightly sweetened (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped almonds, pistachios

Instructions

  • Wash and peel the mango, roughly chopped.
  • Add all the ingredients into a blender jar, roughly cube mangoes along with powdered sugar, cardamom powder and thick yogurt to it.
  • Blend it until smooth.
  • Pour it into serving glasses.
  • Add some ice cubes.
  • Garnish it with whipping cream (optional), finely sliced mango and some chopped almond and pistachio.
  • Serve chilled.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

  • For the best taste, make use of fresh ripe and sweet mangoes for making lassi.
  • For me, Alphonso mangoes are the best, but if you don’t find them easily than you can choose any variety of mangoes. You may use readymade mango pulp, frozen mangos, or canned mangoes too.
  • The plain full fat yogurt is used to make mango lassi, which gives a creamy consistency. But you can make it using low fat-fat yogurt too. Greek yogurt works well in this recipe as well, only add some water to get the right consistency. To make a vegan lassi version, use almond yogurt, cashew yogurt or coconut milk yogurt. Use fresh yogurt and not sour to make this lassi.
  • Adjust the amount of sugar depending on the sweetness of mangoes and curd. Alternatively, you could also use honey coconut sugar, palm sugar, jaggery and maple syrup.
  • If the mango lassi is too thick, you can add water if required.
  • The color of the lassi will depend on the variety of mango you use.
  • To give more exotic flavor, add a pinch of cardamom powder.
  • Additionally, this Mango Lassi can be kept refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
